Tagebucheintrag vom 5. Oktober 1942 Neulich in der Emser Allee! Von hinten überholen mich zwei radelnde große Hitlerjungen; sie albern untereinander, lachen laut, rufen irgendwas - ich glaube gar nicht, dass es mir galt, sie können ja den Stern erst im Sichrückwenden gesehen haben. Gleich darauf in Gegenrichtung ein radelnder Arbeiter von etwa zwanzig Jahren; er beugt sich mit freundlichem Lächeln mir zu: »Das muss Ihnen gar nicht kümmern!« Ich nickte ihm zu.Diary entry on October 5, 1942 Recently in Emser Allee! Two big Hitler Youths overtake from behind on their bicycles; they are joking with one another, laughing loudly, shouting something - I don't even think that I am intended; they could have seen the star only by looking around. Immediately afterward cycling in the opposite direction, a worker aged about twenty; he leans over to me with a friendly smile: "You mustn't take any notice of that!" I nodded to him.
