Witnessing historic events, you say? ::motions wildly at the Titanic::
(Mild spoilers #HistorytownAZ) Emma, Clara, and Oliver were all working not far from the site of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory during that historic fire, but that didn't involve time travel.)
Significant but out-of-context spoilers #HistorytownAZ; click/read the image if you dare!
My #ghostly tears vanished as they struck the ground.
PS I also actually reached out to Pima County to try to trace the actual ownership of the parcel where I imagine #HistorytownAZ being. I don't see much in the records, but since I'm writing an alt world, I think that doubly means I can do what I want?
Thanks again!
Arizona towns often run together, like you go shopping in Phoenix and across the street are shops in a suburb! Not sure if Eloy is that way with its neighbors like Arizona City (ironically not incorporated to be a city) or Picacho. Looking up something like “Eloy rivals”… #Septopolis #HistorytownAZ
In alt-future Eloy, money works miracles, and Rochester is definitely able to do some secret shady stuff that gets overlooked. (It’s secret shady stuff to save lives, granted, but it doesn’t look good from the outside.)
Historytown has extensive security… #HistorytownAZ #Septopolis
Assuming you mean self-pride, Rocky is by far the proudest character. (Or at least the most blustering.) Who else would call himself a genius and use a hashtag #IAmSoGreat?
In Immigrants' Journey, his sister Ember gives him a run for his money, though. #HistorytownAZ #TimeTravelAuthors
Eloy has a mayor (I assume a four-year term, but the website says 2 and 4 at different places!) and 6 city councilmembers, I assume 3 elected every 2 years. 4-year terms. Pretty similar setup to the city where I live. Website says those are their only elected positions. #Septopolis #HistorytownAZ
...actually, Titanic Voyage's MC (who was a foster kid from Syria) probably got some of his trauma from being a young teen in a 2025-2026 America similar to ours.
Prior to 2035, their world gets somewhat better than ours is now, but I'm not sure when or how... #HistorytownAZ
Oh yikes! When I published Titanic Voyage, set in the near future, I had no idea that even immigrants who are in the US legally would soon be arrested, imprisoned, and occasionally shot. I know my stories are in an alt-future but recent events made me realize that... #Septopolis #HistorytownAZ
Historytown is intended to be a “third space” for folks in Eloy and beyond, with varying degrees of success. I know Disneyland fans made their own “social clubs” and I wonder if Rochester might make official ones, themed to each land/territory. But that doesn’t address… #HistorytownAZ #Septopolis
I love this question! In today Eloy, I think the closest to a museum is the Sunland Visitor Center (hope it's still open?!). It's in the old school. From the style, you can tell it was built back when education and public schools were considered points of pride (1930). #Septopolis #HistorytownAZ
Immigrants' Journey spoilers #HistorytownAZ
"I reckon coffee or soda wouldn't calm you, or they may have some herbal tea." He started to stand.
"Don't," I whispered. Please. I…" I couldn't say it, but I wanted him near.
All of your prompts have been great, but this one was really useful for reminding me that when rich people love robot combat, sometimes they do big things, enough that it would probably appear in a Book 3. Thank you! #HistorytownAZ bsky.app/profile/did:...
Today Eloy has pickleball and I bet the alt-future does, too.
No local pro sports teams, but the Rochesters’ daughter, Ember, loves robot combat (think #BattleBots), so alt-future Eloy has arenas for probably up to the 30-pound weight class and holds big competitions... #Septopolis #HistorytownAZ
In alt-future Eloy, tourism is the top industry, dominated by Alistair Seymour Rochester III and his family, aka "Rochester." Historytown offers living-wage jobs (insisting on the "human touch" even for ticket booths!), and the family helps fund the local schools. #HistorytownAZ #Septopolis
Fascinating! Today-Eloy has agriculture, truck stops, prisons, and skydiving, with some manufacturing. Might be working on a recycling plant? There are few things made locally for locals, like most places in the US.
In the alt-future, tourism is their biggest export. #HistorytownAZ #Septopolis
Too many spoilers 😢 but if one wants significant spoilers #HistorytownAZ

…she loses two important people, and one of those losses is her own fault. (Alt-Emma also has a Very Bad Time that would change her ”saddest moment” answer, but it’s way less sad than Clara’s.)
Clara would say her saddest moment was her father's death (backstory). Better times are coming! Unless you count alt-Clara's experiences...
Emma puts on a brave front. Her saddest moment would probably also be her father's death because she spends many days in denial about Clara. #HistorytownAZ
Probably the very worst Liam remembers was the death of his adoptive mother (backstory), but Titanic Voyage is an array of sad moments and full of trauma. Sorry, Liam! He has some rough times in the sequel, but not as sad as the sudden death of a loved one. #AwesomeCharacters #HistorytownAZ
