“I can’t believe it.” Higuchi was saying, to her… well, not to her surprise, at least; Yosano had been low-key expecting a reaction like that. And high-key. “You’re telling me this was the best solution?” “Believe it or not, it is.” Though, to be fair, she could understand why the other didn’t exactly agree. The fracture on Higuchi’s leg was, to put it simply and plainly, absolutely awful; the fall she had taken had been quite an ugly one, and thus had left an equally ugly remnant. In fact, she had been lucky it was just a broken leg and not anything else-- or anything more, while at it. “Can’t you fix it with surgery?” Higuchi then asked, even if her tone already suggested not even she believed in her own words. “No, nevermind, I know we don’t have time for that anyway.” They, indeed, didn’t have time. Despite not being in the most rushed of hurries, they also didn’t exactly have all the time in the world either. In fact, the sooner they moved, the better. Which meant there was only one way to fix Higuchi’s leg: by making use of Yosano’s ability.“I can at least make it as quick and painless as possible.” Akiko then told her, and it sounded too much like a confession of guilt. To some extent, it was; that might not be the first time she ever told someone at all, but it was something she still reserved for very specific occasions, where she even went as far as to use anesthesia before. Because Ranpo and the president knew, and ‘You can pay me by keeping the secret’ had become her usual way of trade whenever she arranged a top surgery date with someone. In most cases, on the other hand, she made a point to be ruthless, lest people would start taking their lives for granted like it had happened… … like it has happened back then. “You can???!!” Higuchi’s voice pulled her back to reality. There was more than evident shock in her expression. “Yes. But not a word from you about it, alright?” There, Yosano put on her most terrifying smile. “Or you’ll end up getting the pain I’m sparing you from right now. And multiplied.” To the other woman’s credit, Higuchi flinched but didn’t take her eyes off her. “I won’t, I swear. Not even to my boss.”“Funnily enough, I don’t mind in his case. He already knows.” That, of course, only increased Higuchi’s levels of bewilderment. “He WHAT?” She said, and Yosano smirked in genuine amusement.
