It's time for @alan678.bsky.social #BirdOfTheDay and the theme is #BlueWater, birds surrounded by Blue Water.

Helen Bennett’s #BirdOfTheDay theme is #BokehBirds - any bird captured with a soft, muted or blurry background.

Here's a juvenile herring gull of the coast of Rhode Island, with a blurry boat in the background.

Juvenile herring gull in mottled brown plumage is shown in flight from a right rear quartering angle, wings raised and feet flush with the body. The background is formed by blurry sea in the lower portion of the shot, with a blurry boat at the horizon line and blurry sky above it.

Rob Crank says today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #Pairs, photos with pairs of the same species in them.

Here's a couple of juvenile herring gulls about to get into it over a crab the one in the lower left has caught.

Two juvenile herring gulls with mottled brown juvenile plumage are shown in flight. The one in the lower left is show from a left rear quartering position with its wings raised and a crab in its beak. The one in the upper right is tilted in flight, putting its upper back toward the camera and facing to the viewer's left with its beak open, getting ready to dive toward the gull with the crab.

Mum mum mum I need a snack .. now!

Nope .. get your own son!

Apparently, inconsistent parenting, a distant cousin of abuse & neglect is really bad for children & even adults who suffered this when young.

I reckon #herringgulls have got it right.
#undercliffpath east of #Brighton today.
