The bag itself is in decent shape. The leather could use some tlc and the strap has stretched in 30 years, but I rarely leave the house without it.

Knitting my messenger bag strap sleeve at a blistering pace of one-half inch per hour. 😜 Each stitch is worked twice so it's also something of a yarn gobbler, but the result will be worth it!

There was almost nothing to adapt from the flat version, and knitting helically prevents jogs at the end of every round. The cast-on stitches are loose, but I can take care of that later.

and colorful. I think I can knit the stitch in the round. Because it's a two row/round repeat, maybe I can knit it helically as well.
