Yall thought this cold would stop my Hannibal posting... You were wrong

#hannibaltober2026 day 9,, eat the rude

#hannigram #hannibal #art #comic #digitalart

The first slide is the tail end of a dialogue from season one episode one of hannibal. Will is sitting down and looks away from Hannibal, as if rolling his eyes, but he is no intentionally doing hat. He says "so do forts."Hannibal looks down at Hannibal, with a cartoony dark gradient over his face to show his disapproval at will's rudeness. His thought bubble is shaped like intestines, and has a red fork and knife symbol in the corner. He thinks "how rude..." And says to Will "Not fond of eye contact, are you?" This is another line from episode one of hannibal. Will looks up at Hannibal and says the next line from the show. The text has no box, is partially behind will's body, and extends beyond the screen, emphasizing that this is a rant. He says "eyes are distracting. You see too much, you don't see enough. And-and it's hard to focus when you're thinking, um, "Oh, those whites are really white", or, "He must have hepatitis", or, "Oh, is that a burst vein?" So, yeah, I try to avoid eyes whenever possible."Hannibal is shown now standing next to will in the chair. He looks less upset and is smiling. The end of will's previous line continues partway down the screen, behind will and hannibal. Hannibal says nothing, but thinks "nevermind, this is just autism." Instead of a knife and fork, there are red heart symbols in the corner of the text box.

Instead of drawing for day 6 of #hannibaltober2026 (decomposition) I did writing!! Mostly bc I'm really bad at drawing horror or gore

But tbh I didn't edit this at all so 😭✌️

TW! for animal death/corpse, decomposition, somewhat graphic descriptions, and existential bs

#hannibal #hannigram #fanfic

Will crouched down on the bank of the river behind the cottage. Something had caught his eye when he walked by a few minutes ago, and it latched onto his vision like talons on flesh. He had been standing over it since then, aware of his fixation on it, but unwilling — or unable — to continue into the river to fish for dinner. It was his night to supply the ingredients for Hannibal’s various delicacies, and despite the booming population of moose this year, he was reluctant to hunt. It left a bad taste in his mouth.

He continued staring down at the animal. Its fur was spiked and crusted from its tumble in the river. The fur, he noted, was a mottled shade of grey-brown, which Will figured was what caught his eye. The kitten’s eyes were a stunning shade of hazel and, unpleasantly, open. It was young; too young to have been lost or abandoned by its mother. He thought further about how cruel people can be, to throw animals away without a second thought. He forced himself to look away and waded into the river. The next week, while Hannibal was gathering ingredients for “a special meal,” Will found himself walking down the cluttered path to the river. He quickly noticed the smell. It was hard to miss; Will had gotten accustomed to the smell of decomposition over the years, but something was different about this. He wondered if the smell could actually be that much worse than a rotting human corpse. Upon closer inspection, he saw some movement in the fur. For a moment he held his breath, hoping that maybe the kitten was breathing or twitching, but instead a maggot revealed itself from under the kitten’s front leg. Why was he hoping for a miracle he knew wasn’t coming?

After another week, the smell had gotten so bad Will showered after returning to the cottage. He had been down by the river around 2:00 AM, and he laid down with his head beside the kitten. He had no idea why; he wasn’t particularly tired, and he definitely didn’t want his face so close to it, but he felt calmer. After what might have been an hour laying beside the animal looking at the moon, he sat up to leave. He looked at it and his hand instinctively reached out, gently touching the kitten’s side. When he returned home, he washed his hands six times to no avail.

A month later, Will found himself petting the dead kitten quite frequently, much to his dismay, as well as to Hannibal’s — it’s hard not to say something when your husband brings home the smell of rot every night. Some time after that, the smell was almost gone. Will had started noticing the small, soft body of his obsession fading; its body deflated, its eyes shrunk, and its figure distorted. He wondered how he could feel so strongly about this kitten when he had almost no reaction to human death anymore.

It took four months for the kitten to disappear. It had to have been the rising tide; the decomposition process was so far along no animal would bother eating it, and the process wasn’t nearly finished. Will’s grieving process wasn’t close to finished, either. He wished that he hadn’t started it. He decided he would sit there for a while anyways, as some sort of broken funeral.

He turned around to see Hannibal walking down the path, incredibly awkwardly as he was still in his night clothes, a winter coat, and Will’s boots that didn’t fit either of them. Hannibal silently walked to Will’s side and sat down, looking out across the river lit by the moonlight. How vulnerable I am, Will realized, that everything I am capable of grieving lives on this property.
