A unique vintage 1940s 50s handmade sterling silver on solid wood pre-Columbian Inca Figure design wall plaque artwork. The sterling figure at center was created using repoussage ie hammered from the back and then fine details were incised at the front, then this figure was attached to the exotic south American wood backing with a wonderful grain pattern. A really lovely and unique artwork from the mid-century of Peru, and the only example like it that I've run across ever! The wood backing measures 8" wide by 7-5/8" tall, and the applied silver figure measures 3-3/4" by 3". The silver section is marked "925 Peru" which you can see in my close-up photo. I haven't touched this artwork, leaving that to the new owner, but a light touch-up with a silver polishing cloth would bring out the highlights, and a drop of wood oil would make the lovely grain pattern of the wood really pop! Excellent vintage condition.
