The #SovietInvasionOfPoland launched on #ThisDayInHistory in 1939, showing once again that the so-called #WorkersState, aka the #SovietUnion, was more interested in #GreatPower status and reclaiming the territory of the former #RussianEmpire than it was in #socialist liberation.

The global commons are becoming the next battlefield of great-power competition. Sea lanes, satellites and cyberspace need rules before rivalry destroys openness.
