Lunch is Served
Beautiful great egret with lunch! That may be the biggest crawfish I have seen in our Katy Texas bayous and retention ponds. Obviously Mr. Egret is proud of his catch as he shows it off. Good find!

White egret with crawfish in beak looking at photographer against a dark water background. This is a large retention pond in West Houston / Katy Texas area. Egrets love our waterways as they are rich in protein like small amphibians, crawfish, and insect.

Wings carried across shimmering water.
Feathers catch the lingering light.
Grace travels without a sound.
Ripples echo beneath the glide.
Beauty passes, yet remains.

Have a great day everyone! 😀

A Great Egret searches for its next meal beneath the driving rain of a Nor’easter. It moves patiently through the shallows, watching for the slightest movement below the surface.

Meet Stretch, a Great Egret who loitered in the marsh. Sometimes it takes more than one photo to fully capture a bird. #greategret #birdphotography #birdsofrhodeisland #tivertonri

Soft light gathers among the reeds.
White feathers unfold like petals beside the water.
Golden grasses cradle a moment of stillness.
Each gentle movement becomes part of the wild song.
Beauty lingers where nature writes in silence.

White Sentinel in the Trees

I captured this image of a great egret perched in a tree beside a pond near Albany, Georgia. ...

"The great egret appears as a white flare of stillness tucked into a tangle of autumn foliage. It perches on a branch at a distance, its long body upright and composed, giving the impression of a quiet sentinel watching the world from its hidden vantage point. The bird’s plumage is bright and clean, almost glowing against the surrounding leaves, which shift from green to soft yellow as the season begins to turn.

The branches around it weave a loose frame—thin limbs, scattered leaves, and pockets of filtered light. The egret stands out not because it demands attention, but because its calm presence contrasts so sharply with the busy texture of the trees. Behind it, hints of a pale structure blur into the background, barely noticeable compared to the crisp silhouette of the bird.

The whole scene feels like a moment discovered rather than staged: a solitary egret resting quietly in the early autumn canopy, distant yet unmistakably elegant." - Microsoft Copilot

Took this shot early today and gave it an artistic finish with lightroom. #Birds #ECK #GreatEgret

A white great egret stands still in shallow, reflective water, its long black legs visible beneath it and its reflection mirrored below. Two dark ducks (Mallards) swim nearby, one in the lower left foreground and another in the right background. The water is tinted with warm golden and green tones, creating a calm, painterly scene with soft vertical reflections from surrounding vegetation.
