“This is my boyfriend, Oluwande,” Zheng says, gesturing to the man next to her. He wears a rainbow colored beanie specifically for pride, and it’s fucking adorable. She’s also really glad he’s there now that this guy’s talking to her. “Olu, this is Ricky.” Ricky looks them up and down and Zheng and Olu both can tell that he’s judging them. The judgment comes off the prick in waves. “It’s nice to meet you.” She can tell by the tension in Olu’s voice that it’s anything but nice. “So, you’re bisexual huh?” Ricky mutters, looking at the bi pride flag emblazoned across her chest. She knows he’s about to say something shitty before he even says it. “It seems strange to me that every bisexual woman here has a boyfriend.” Zheng looks at Olu hard and then Olu rolls his eyes. He knows her too well, knows that she’s going to say something devastating to the man.“Oh, well, you know, I figured that I’m too good for just one partner,” she says, tilting her head to the side. “Olu’s my boyfriend, but I also have a girlfriend.” Olu sees where she’s going with this and a smile lights up his sunshine face. “That’s not all.” They turn around and spot the pair that they’re looking for. Jim and Archie are near one of the booths, Jim holding onto Archie’s hand almost as if they’re trying not to lose her. Zheng thinks that’s a pretty safe bet, as Archie tends to run off when she’s overly enthusiastic. “Jim, babe, come here.” Jim tugs Archie in their general direction and in a moment, the two are staring at the newcomer. “What is this?” “I’m like the ultimate bisexual,” Zheng says, a cheeky grin crossing her face. “Boyfriend, girlfriend, nonbinary partner. I check all the boxes.”

“That’s cool.” Zheng had no idea how much biphobia had fucked her up until Archie says those two words, shrugging her shoulders. “It is?” “Yeah, I mean, I guess I’m bi too, although I don’t think about it that much. Don’t think I’d get with a cis guy any time soon, and my primary partner is nonbinary, but bisexual’s a good umbrella for that shit.” “It is.” Zheng knew she was bisexual from a pretty young age. The first time she’d heard the word a sort of bright light went off in the back of her mind. Still, she’d been through some stuff, so Archie’s casual acceptance meant everything.
