This is the ancienne gare d'Orléans at #Bordeaux. Also known as la gare de La Bastide.
On the evening of 5 August 1914, amidst scenes of general enthusiasm, and escorted by a large crowd, 144e Régiment d’infanterie embarked from here in three echelons for the war. #1GM #FWWHist #WW1

A stone building with two low square towers three storeys high separated by a long low section with arches and near to the steep sided bank of the River Garonne. It would have been a terminus type station.

The ‘R’ is because Edmond Famechon was « Opérateur R » of the section photographique de l’armée. #FWWHist #1GM #WW1
