So showing the depravity of R politicians doesn't "wake up" those people, it loses the network viewers. And since companies have a fiscal responsibility to their shareholders and not any responsibility for the consumer, they do what they can to maintain eyeballs. So they've got to maintain this middle-of-the-road narrative because people don't actually want the truth
