I have told the origins of Helkite & July a few times now, but I thought maybe it might be fun to go deeper into it in a full thread! #furry #mecha #furrymecha #furrylit

Meet July as he exists now (Art by me). If you haven't been introduced, he's a magpie convict living on the prison planet MaxSec!

Ink and colored pencil drawing of a jolly-looking Magpie in a black leather jacket holding a molotov cocktail.

Got challenged to do #My9Animes by @leonardourso.bsky.social specifically for Helkite

I actually sat some of the other DFP authors down and had them watch some of these while pointing out all the stuff that influenced me

Ball's in your court for the Zenith trilogy, Leo!

While enjoying Helkite, I think this is a lovely time to announce that @doppelfoxxpublishing.com is going to publish another one!

Look out for Hecuba, coming next year! Same setting, new characters, new Armors, new romance (Just a little foxier🦊)

Pencil-shaded pen drawing of July, a short magpie wearing a black leather jacket walking away from the viewer while hi-fiving a red fox in a shirt and tie with a sassy look on his face who is walking towards the viewer.

Fur and #Mecha are compatible in a way that I find self evident. So much of #Helkite (& 🤖 things in general) is about the 🤖 as a symbol of character and theme, just as furry is a representation of character and theme.

& I like it when the explosions go boom! Read Helkite for that too!

@leonardourso.bsky.social Inspired me after getting inspired BY me, so here's a carousel introducing the characters in #Helkite and why you might want to read it!

Now that I've seen copies of #Helkite floating around on people's shelves, a review on Goodreads (Or similar platforms) goes a long way to helping out if you like the book :D

Enjoy this art to make up for Goodreads begging ;3

Drawing in pen of the Helkite, the robot from the book, hitting a cool airbourne pose and pointing its plasma thrower towards an enemy. There is a cool anime cut-in of July laughing while looking crazy and saying: "Let's see how you like it fucker!" At the bottom is a mock-Japanese logo for "Mobile Armor Helkite" in Katakana.
