I've been trying to beef up my client list of late, and it's working. I've onboarded three new clients and I have three more in the pipeline. What's wild to me is that none of it has come from my direct efforts. It's all from word of mouth, old colleagues and LinkedIn. #freelancerlife is so weird!

Do I occasionally work on weekends? Yes, especially if I've taken time off during the week to do other life things when I'd normally have been working.
Can a client *assume* I will be working on weekends and set deadlines accordingly? Absolutely the fuck not. Incredibly rude. #freelancerlife

TFW you're editing a paper that's already been edited several times by others and it's still in terrible shape. :( This doesn't arise often for me, but it always leaves me feeling a weird sort of ache. Like how did it come to this? Feels like evidence of a struggle, yanno? #editing #freelancerlife

I just found out my application has been accepted to attend a small, exclusive international conference intended for mid- to late-career editors, taking place a bit later this fall. I don't often attend the bigger ones but this one intrigued me. Wonder what it'll be like! #editing #freelancerlife

I just had the most wonderful kickoff meeting with a new client, who wants to work with me on a book edit specifically because of my background in sexuality scholarship and my fluency in French. I'm always thrilled when I get to bring my whole self to my work. Delight! 🤓 #freelancerlife #editing
