"They will condemn a house that has lead. Why not condemn the HERC? It's putting the same thing out in the air."

We deserve the right to know what the burner is putting into our bodies.

The county says its pollution is within permit limits, but permitted doesn't mean safe. Text notes 80% of trash incinerators nationwide are in majority BIPOC communities, and that Hennepin County's HERC runs on a 30-year-old permit based on EPA emissions standards a federal court found improperly set. OK. Alright. OK, good chat.

@earthjustice.org and the @envirointegrity.bsky.social are suing EPA over incinerator standards that violate the Clean Air Act — standards HERC operates under. Permitted emissions does not mean safe. It just means acceptable harm. #FreedomToBreathe #MPLS

(2/2) The County won't take the binding vote required to close the burner. Every year of stalling is a year those jobs don't exist + harm in a majority BIPOC community continues.

Let's close the burner and transition to a Zero Waste future where workers and community can thrive. #freedomtobreathe
