Lilies - 2026 #Nature #Art #AbstractArt #Painting #NaturalProcessPainting #FractalExpressionism #LorenGAN

Occasionally one of my painting details resembles a cave wall covered in flowstone with mineral deposits formed in layers over centuries - and now a spelunker's headlamp has pierced the darkness of the cave, gleaming off of the mica-encrusted details of the formation.

Actually I just laid down the pigment in layers, and then used a flash to take a photograph of the end results. You see that quite often in my details and closeups, though not as noticeably in full paintings.

In any case, this one is mostly green tones, with blues, bronze, and pink lilies. It's one of my favorite types of composition - simple and elegant, but hiding complexity.

Torn by Storms - 2026 #Nature #Art #AbstractArt #Painting #NaturalProcessPainting #FractalExpressionism #LorenGAN

This one looks like the aftermath of a heavy storm, on delicate new life. Nature is harsh sometimes, but mankind always manages to somehow be colder, harsher, and even less forgiving.

Let's take our small parts of the world, and make them better together.

Tranquil Eye - 2026 #Nature #Art #AbstractArt #Painting #NaturalProcessPainting #FractalExpressionism #LorenGAN

As some may have noticed, I often name rendered images after songs. This one, as many are, was named after a song by Cocteau Twins of the same name. I wasn't intending a tribute, but the title suited the image to the point that they became synonyms of each other. If you think of this as someone's head in profile, it helps to see the connection...

The Rift - 2026 #Nature #Art #AbstractArt #Painting #NaturalProcessPainting #FractalExpressionism #LorenGAN

Imagine a great lifting ...a tremendous upheaval of the land, with portions being ripped away from the base strata. ...Or maybe it's just a closeup of a rose thorn? It's rather hard to tell when fractal field patterns become involved. That's just their nature, macro and micro become joined indelibly. Some may shy away from that, but I embrace it fully. It's the basis for many of these digital remixes, in new and unexpected combinations!

Dream Maps II - 2026 #Nature #Art #AbstractArt #Painting #NaturalProcessPainting #FractalExpressionism #LorenGAN

This to me resembles more of a map than a satellite image, due to its stylized nature, which is slightly simplified and abstracted, but its overall presentation is one of a deliberate rendering of a place, in order for others to recognize it.

I hope that you can at least admire it, even in its unrecognizable state, as a place which might be visited.

Gilded Dragon - 2026 #Nature #Art #AbstractArt #Painting #NaturalProcessPainting #FractalExpressionism #LorenGAN

Once you see the dragon in this image, you can't un-see it. His body is black, with metallic gold accents and details, as he stands in profile, facing to our left. The background behind him seems to be an orange sky, with mountains on the horizon.

The Workshop - 2026 #Nature #Art #AbstractArt #Painting #NaturalProcessPainting #FractalExpressionism #LorenGAN

This is a bright, colorful one, to have such a utilitarian title. It looks as though a hand is coming down from the top of the frame, holding something onto a base to be worked on. The colors are deep browns, bronze, orange, aqua blue, red, violet, blue, green, and yellow.

True North - 2026 #Nature #Art #AbstractArt #Painting #NaturalProcessPainting #FractalExpressionism #LorenGAN

This one is a rainbow-colored piece, with the central forms resembling a hand with a finger pointing up past the top-right corner. As usual there's lots of implied, dynamic motion created by the fractal field patterns!

I hope that you like it, and thank you for your interest in my artwork!

Our Lady of the Green Mountain - 2026 #Nature #Art #AbstractArt #Painting #NaturalProcessPainting #FractalExpressionism #LorenGAN

At the top of this image. slightly to the left, our lady can be found, in red robes, walking over the green mountain. To me it looks like medieval religious iconography.

Wreckage - 2026 #Nature #Art #AbstractArt #Painting #NaturalProcessPainting #FractalExpressionism #LorenGAN

This one looks like a sinking ship, in deep earth tones, blue hues, and gold. The dark, spiky ship parts jut from the water like a tilted crown, while shreds of the sails and rigging hover above.

Heat Sink - 2026 #Nature #Art #AbstractArt #Painting #NaturalProcessPainting #FractalExpressionism #LorenGAN

Occasionally one of these ends up resembling electronic components, and this one is definitely an example of that. It looks as though the warm colors are being transferred to a device which cools them, and thus the heat is absorbed. The result is a rainbow effect, flowing under the more permanent structures.

Tabula Rasa - 2026 #Nature #Art #AbstractArt #Painting #NaturalProcessPainting #FractalExpressionism #LorenGAN

Every once in a while I like to leave a gesso board unpainted, and just let the subtle texture shine on its own merits. Honestly I usually can't resist adding pigment to it because I enjoy that process so much, but I at least make sure that I get some photographic evidence to document the blank slate that it began as.

What colors would you like to see here?

The Cave Entrance - 2026 #Nature #Art #AbstractArt #Painting #NaturalProcessPainting #FractalExpressionism #LorenGAN

Of course the title doesn't explain why the sky is purple outside of the cave, let alone why the inside is green, yellow, and brown, but here we are. Perhaps you can provide reasons for this? I'm going to say that the inside is colored that way due to mineral deposits, which is at least true in the actual art process-sense, but could also be the cause in nature!

Now the sky... that's another story. Like the the cave, it also was created with "mineral deposits" (pigments), but why an actual sky might be purple is another story. Maybe it's on another planet?

In any case, thank you for visiting the places I create, and thank you for your interest in my artwork!

Feathered Serpent - 2026 #Nature #Art #AbstractArt #Painting #NaturalProcessPainting #FractalExpressionism #LorenGAN

Getting mythological for a moment... to me this looks like a feathered serpent, with wings and a head that extends past the image frame, in deep blue, aqua, green, and metallic gold. It looks poised to strike!

New WiP Painting - 2026 #Nature #Art #AbstractArt #Painting #NaturalProcessPainting #FractalExpressionism #LorenGAN

This is a new WiP painting that has given me fits, honestly. I've learned a lot by making this, but one of the things I learned was that it's not a good idea to try and make an entire painting with nothing but metallic pigments. ...In other words "mica". That pigment is very large, heavy, and translucent, meaning the only way you're going to get a good, strong color is is you have direct light reflection - and then it's horribly blown out. Plus the detail is lost in all the cluttered pigment grains.

I have rescued this painting, I hope, with other much smaller and non-metallic pigments, but I won't be using mica as a main pigment grain, probably ever again. For my purposes, it's much better to use them as last-touch accents or highlights.

This one finally came together, but the overall effect is lessened in my opinion, by the over-use of mica. It makes the high ground - which is usually mostly white, a cluttered, dirty-looking mess. :(

This is my first new painting in quite a long time, I've learned a lot, and will continue to take what I've learned and try to improve my craft! As far as I know, nobody has ever painted this way, so I have nobody to ask but myself!

Thank you so much for your support, encouragement, and interest in my artwork over the years!

Shadowfax - 2026 #Nature #Art #AbstractArt #Painting #NaturalProcessPainting #FractalExpressionism #LorenGAN

If you examine this carefully, you might see the horse head profile in this, it is subtle, but present. Here's a hint: the ears and mane are dark.

His face is rendered in shades of green, purple, and blue, with delicate, dark fractal field patterns.

Malicious Intent - 2026 #Nature #Art #AbstractArt #Painting #NaturalProcessPainting #FractalExpressionism #LorenGAN

You might not always recognize it when you see it, but it's easy to identify it by feeling... It hurts to even know such dark thoughts exist in so many hearts.

This image in black and red serves as a symbol for this negative energy, and its swirling convolutions indicate its hold on us - it tangles and ensnares us, and pulls us down.

Let this serve as a warning, to remain lifted up - or else succumb to the company of misery.

All That Was Left - 2026 #Nature #Art #AbstractArt #Painting #NaturalProcessPainting #FractalExpressionism #LorenGAN

I hate to come across as apocalyptic at 10 AM, but that's the mood I've been in. We have to do something major to fix what's wrong, it's not just one person.

...But aside from that, this image is one of desolation - of bare-bones remains after everything else has been cooked away by warfare and greed, in fiery tones of red, yellow, and orange, against a dark, charred ground.

We can avoid this, and we must.

Thank you for your interest in the state of things around us, and for your interest in my artwork!

Fairy Window - 2026 #Nature #Art #AbstractArt #Painting #NaturalProcessPainting #FractalExpressionism #LorenGAN

This, to me, looks like what you might imagine, when asked what a "fairy window" would look like - organic, but stained glass, and rainbow colored. The composition is dynamic, if a bit fragmented as you might imagine a stained glass window to be, even a "normal" one.

First Blush of Autumn - 2026 #Nature #Art #AbstractArt #Painting #NaturalProcessPainting #FractalExpressionism #LorenGAN

The colors of this one evoke Autumn's harvest fairly well, with some ripening tones converting green to orange and red. Maybe it's fresh watermelon, or squash? Looks pretty luscious, whatever it is, and full of life, with many intricate organic details.
