because the horrible parts of the experience were so distracting, she might have unconsciously pushed them aside and focused on the parts that felt easier to tell, eventually making that version of the story what she remembered. #hwa3 #forgettingandtelling

I think she kept forgetting part of the story even as she kept telling it because we as people tend to get lost in the details and in the point we try to make when recalling something we don't necessarily want to remember. #hwa3 #forgettingandtelling

I think memory probably changes depending on what your brain is ready to deal with. She might remember really specific things like sounds or smells, but other parts could still be blurry or changed because of the trauma. #hwa3 #forgettingandtelling

As you tell a story you hone in on the parts that you like and the parts you want to remember and the other aspects become useless. It's less efficient to describe all the things that are happening at the time #hwa3 #forgettingandtelling

I think Anderson says she kept forgetting parts of the story as she told it, to emphasize how unreliable our memory is. Also, it is always changing, even based on who you are speaking to in the moment. #hwa3 #forgettingandtelling

#hwa3 #forgettingandtelling I think she says this because she is constantly combatting trauma. Even if she is able to have breakthroughs, like she remembering things like the smells and screams in the ward, maybe she is still suppressing other elements of her experience and cleaning them up

@serendipityponders.bsky.socialOct 5, 2026, 3:19 AM

i think that she forgets because she's fine-tuning the main event details, but when she reaches the small events, it lowkey just disappears and gets rewritten by emotions and memories of that event-- covered over by the nurses' povs as well #hwa3 #forgettingandtelling

@yush025.bsky.socialOct 5, 2026, 3:07 AM

I think her forgetting the story as she told it was her mind erasing and adding details as it saw fit to make the story more beneficial for her. Kind of like how she said she didn't want to remember the horror of the hospital because of how rough of an experience it was. #hwa3 #forgettingandtelling

@amanraj07.bsky.socialOct 5, 2026, 2:40 AM

Every time Anderson told the story, she was remembering how she told it last time and what she said. not the actual fall. Each time she retold the story it changed, so parts slowly dropped out. The story became the memory and because of that she missed a few points

Things that are traumatic can be hard to confront and bring out when talking about it. It's easy to follow down a certain narrative and reassure yourself that it is the correct one when storytelling (you easily forget certain details). #hwa3 #forgettingandtelling

@jaredjunioryear.bsky.socialOct 5, 2026, 1:18 AM

I think this is due to it being traumatic. Traumatic events are perhaps the most frequent events that get turned into fictions in our head. We choose to remember them how we want or completely forget them to protect ourselves. #hwa3 #forgettingandtelling

#hwa3 #forgettingandtelling once you become so honed on selling a specific narrative, especially about yourself, I think it becomes easy to ignore everything else. it becomes "irrelevant" because it did not revolve around you, or the story that you wanted to tell. it was too dark, too dramatic

@butterflies49.bsky.socialOct 4, 2026, 11:31 PM

I think she kept forgetting because like you said every time you use your memory you change it. The memory is never the exact same every time you tell it. #hwa3 #forgettingandtelling

@piwonskiemil.bsky.socialOct 4, 2026, 11:05 PM

I think it depends on who she was talking with or in what context. if I’m telling my traumatic/sad story with my friends I focus on what happened and trying to stay positive, and if you keep telling that side of the story, it sticks with you and that’s how u remember it #forgettingandtelling #hwa3

I would say because of all the medication she was taking also because the nurses kept telling her different stories so she started to believe the story that the nurses were telling her

@bluesbybridget.bsky.socialOct 4, 2026, 10:01 PM

I think Anderson kept forgetting parts of the story because every time she told it she focused more on the main point than on exact details. The version she kept telling may have started replacing the original memory, so some parts became less clear or disappeared. #hwa3 #forgettingandtelling

@chillmountaineer.bsky.socialOct 4, 2026, 8:43 PM

easily get lost in reshaping some of the details to fit how she wanted to tell the story. By extension, she could also begin reshaping her true memory of the situation as well after reshaping her story during storytelling. #hwa3 #forgettingandtelling

@samanthalavender.bsky.socialOct 4, 2026, 8:42 PM

I think she kept on forgetting because maybe she wanted to forget it herself so after repeating it over and over again, that specific memory began to fade until she simply couldn't remember it anymore #hwa3 #forgettingandtelling

@chillmountaineer.bsky.socialOct 4, 2026, 8:42 PM

I think one reason she kept forgetting the story as she told it was because of how she mentioned she was only focused on her own self at the time in terms of memory recall. So maybe she was missing out on some of the more objective details that had happened but she could #hwa3 #forgettingandtelling

@danielletou.bsky.socialOct 4, 2026, 7:55 PM

i think she keeps forgetting certain details because your brain makes you forget things to protect you. and when you are telling a story straight through you are bond to forget certain details #hwa3 #forgettingandtelling
