I like to collect curious microscopy moments so I caught this cell-cell fusion event of ectodermal cells in a 🐸 embryo in vivo. The nucleus split and cytokinesis finished. But then a moment later, the 2 cells fuse back together to form 1 bigger cell with 2 nuclei! How cool? #FluorescenceFriday

Happy #FluorescenceFriday. This video shows a group of neural crest cells (🟣) remodelling a mesh of fibronectin matrix (πŸ”΅). This is part of a biorxiv paper showing the reciprocal relationship between NC and neural tube morphogenesis.

#FluorescenceFriday image from UAB undergraduate Aditya Pradeep, with @odrake.bsky.social.

Red = tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) protein
Cyan = DAPI

TH is the rate-limiting step in the synthesis of dopamine, and is densely expressed in axon terminals from midbrain dopamine neurons in the rat striatum.

This was gallium corrole, and the NMR was quite good. Rarely I see pyrrole peaks so resolved in 300 MHz.

Here's a nice one in the striatum showing dual innervation from M2 (green) and CM nucleus of the thalamus (magenta).
