You see, this is why I feel it’s a shame to compare dramas like this - it invites those who disliked one or other to share their dislike

I loved #FlourishedPeony, despite its weaker ‘second season’ - so maybe it would have been sufficient to detail to their shared themes than say one is better

I was bored out of my brains by #FlourishedPeony. Dropped after a few episodes. Woudn't put it in the same class as #AgainsttheCurrent. 🤷

Though I’m not sure I’d compare it too directly with #FlourishedPeony - while they share some themes, they feel like quite different dramas to me, & I think both are excellent at what they’re trying to do

Lolol. He’s just finally being forced to self reflect on his anti-ML behavior. What sets him apart from, say, the ex husband in #FlourishedPeony is probably ego death. He is realizing not everything revolves around him, and he’s also growing from it

My idea of playful banter is Mu Dan and Jiang Chang Yang in #FlourishedPeony. Jinqi and Lan Xiang could definitely learn a thing or two from them. Brrrr...their relationship is gonna need a second. #Cdramas

Me too. It is sort of true. But that same argument could be made about #FlourishedPeony as they’re making here about #AgainstTheCurrent. Is it a bad thing? She’ll end up getting romanced into a better place/life and he’ll end up acquiring a proper understanding of life for the poor and downtrodden.

Dramas like this know that the characters are living in a world where they are at the whims of so many others. Like in #FlourishedPeony where the first season ended with her reflecting on the women who had been in her life and were now gone.

Yes, #FlourishedPeony was my favourite drama from last year, & it has some wonderfully warm & humanistic moments

But it’s absolutely harrowing in places, so I couldn’t recommend it to someone feeling vulnerable or in emotionally low spirits
