Flash Flood Warning issued October 10 at 7:23AM EDT until October 10 at 9:30AM EDT by NWS Charleston SCAt 723 AM EDT, City of Charleston Emergency Management reported heavy
rain in Downtown Charleston. Flash flooding is already occurring with
several road closures across the city.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...City of Charleston Emergency Management reported.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
drainage and low-lying areas.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
North Charleston, Mount Pleasant, James Island, Johns Island, West
Ashley, Downtown Charleston, Fort Sumter, Daniel Island, Folly
Beach and Kiawah Island.

An area of intense rainfall moved through the Folly Beach, James
Island, Johns Island, West Ashley, and Downtown Charleston areas and
produced 1 to 2 inches of rain. The heaviest rain has now lifted
northward but light to occasionally moderate rain will continue.
Additional rounds of heavy rain could develop through mid morning.
City of Charleston Emergency Management reported several roads closed
across the Downtown Charleston area and flash flooding is ongoing.
Additionally, a inundation depth sensor on Ogier Street near Calhoun
Street reported an inundation depth of over half of a foot.

Very heavy rainfall is pushing onshore around Kiawah Island and Folly
Beach, producing hourly rainfall rates up to 2 inches per hour. With
high tide approaching, the risk for flash flooding will only increase
over the next few hours. Intense rainfall will likely make travel
hazardous due to water covering roadways across Folly Beach, James
Island, Johns Island, West Ashley, and downtown Charleston.

IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

Elba, Enterprise, Fort Rucker, New Brockton, Lee, Woodland Grove
Church, Camp Humming Hills, Richburg, Wise Mill, Arcus, Mixons
Crossroads, Clintonville, Lowry Mill, Carl Folsom A/p, Tabernacle,
New Haven, Turner Crossroads, Victoria, Camp Alaflo Bsa and Jack.

Additional heavy rainfall from the remnant eyewall of Isaias is
likely to exacerbate the flooding situation within the warned area. A
trained storm spotter in western Geneva County reported nearly a foot
of rain with this activity.
