A vertically composed dark fantasy illustration depicts two extremely slender, skeletal women standing together in a shadowy, dreamlike space. The taller figure occupies the left side, dressed in a long black gown with a dramatically flared skirt traced by delicate golden lines. Her elongated neck supports a small, dark face framed by an enormous mass of black hair that sweeps upward and outward in curling, wiry strands. She raises both thin arms toward the center as though presenting or welcoming something. The shorter woman stands to the right in a similarly dark, bell-shaped gown, extending her long arms toward her companion. Both figures have exaggerated proportions, narrow torsos, angular limbs, and an eerie handmade quality resembling charcoal, ink, and scratched pastel on rough paper. Warm golden lights float throughout the scene like fireflies, illuminating the hems and folds of their dresses. Near the upper right, a large winged insect hovers inside several roughly drawn concentric rings of pale light, its abdomen glowing intensely gold. Smaller points of light scatter across the smoky charcoal background like sparks or distant stars. The contrast between the nearly black figures and the soft amber illumination gives the scene the appearance of a strange nocturnal ceremony witnessed by fireflies.
