🔥🍎 Fire cider is a traditional herbal vinegar made with ginger, garlic, horseradish, onions & peppers.

🌿 Ginger may ease nausea
🧄 Garlic contains antioxidant compounds
🌶️ Peppers add warming heat

A fiery folk tradition, not a proven cold remedy! 🍂

This year’s first batch of #firecider now strained, decanted and ready for labelling. I took some inspiration from Rosemary Gladstar’s book (in pic). And it looks like I may have to fine strain it a couple more times before adding some honey to a smaller portion of the batch. I also use it “neat”.

It is that time of year, fire cider making with a full moon and a table full of rocks and seed pods and ingredients for what I hope is a potion of good feelings and good healings. Love you.

Three little jars, plenty of possibilities 🌿

Fermented garlic honey for dressings and marinades, fire honey drizzled over cheese or roast veg, and fire cider for giving soups, stews and salads a warming little kick.

What would you try first?

Three homemade preserves on a wooden board in a bright kitchen: jars of fermented garlic honey, fire cider and fire honey, with handwritten-style black labels. Herbs, wooden chopping boards and pantry jars sit softly out of focus in the background.

Doing a little kitchen witchery and trying Fire Cider. I'm scared drinking something that's been fermenting for 4-6 weeks on the counter but a lot of people like it #kitchenwitchcraft #firecider

Hot, sour, sweet and decidedly lively—fire cider is not a drink that slips by unnoticed.
