What a repo hike moves: repo-linked loans (next reset), MCLR loans (later), new loans. What it doesn't: existing fixed-rate loans, credit card interest, which is already up to ~3.75%/month.
Three checkout checks: read the discount cap, check EMI reward exclusions, and plan for the total bill. A headline percentage cannot tell you the final rupee cost.
Hike math (₹50L, 20 yr, 8.10→8.35%, illustrative): a higher EMI costs ≈₹1.88L extra; keeping the EMI and extending the loan costs ≈₹5L. RBI rules say your lender must let you choose.

Illustrative: ₹47,500 carried × 3.75% = ₹1,781.25; plus assumed 18% GST ≈ ₹2,101.88. Actual bank calculations differ. Minimum-only payment can also remove the interest-free period.
RBI hiked repo 25 bps to 5.50%, the first hike since Feb 2023. On a ₹50L, 20-yr floating loan (8.10%→8.35%, illustrative) the EMI goes ₹42,134 → ₹42,918: +₹784/month.
A sale discount and card rewards follow separate rules. Amazon Pay ICICI excludes EMI from rewards; later conversion can reverse them. Compare both payment routes after fees and taxes.
Illustrative no-cost EMI: ₹2,653 interest offset by merchant; 18% GST on interest ₹477.54, plus assumed ₹199 fee and ₹35.82 GST. Extra cost: ₹712.36. Check actual terms.
A rate headline does not tell you your card’s rate. ICICI’s Amazon Pay card lists 3.75% per month for minimum-only payment—45% nominal annually, before taxes and fees. Check your MITC.
Illustrative: 10% off, up to ₹1,500 = ₹1,500 on a ₹15,000 cart, but still ₹1,500 on a ₹50,000 phone. That is 10% versus 3%. Check the offer cap.
