Despite the western stereotype of Bollywood movies, there's more to Indian cinema than the masala film. To wit, this rather gorgeous low key drama about Malayali nurses trying to make ends meet in Mumbai.

Blackly comic horror from off the continent! …France specifically. It has a nicely gothic air. Also the vampire is portrayed using a puppet, which is a choice that's both pretty weird and pretty great.

The classic sci-fi thriller, wherein a bunch of middle-aged scientists try to stop an extraterrestrial virus… by doing science stuff rather than shooting things like they would in a '50s sci-fi movie.

Nothing particular today… the consolation pick is 'Moffie' which was on #Film4 the other night but wasn't the pick at the time. It should be on #Channel4's on demand/streaming/catchup/whatever-you-want-to-call-it service.

Martin McDonagh's follow up to In Bruges. It's all right and not without its moments, but… it feels like it's at this unsatisfying mid-point in the craziness stakes, and should either push it further or rein it in.

Another repeat pick so soon… that said, I'm still impressed that Film4 are willing to give a reasonably plum evening slot to a relatively obscure indie film rather than banishing it to late night regardless of content.

A pared back and stylish thriller which carries on at a brisk pace, not wasting a second of its brief (<90 mins) runtime. Kind of a standout in recent years as it seems like films have really ballooned in length.
