In which Edwin contemplates revenge in subtle, non-flambouyant ways, seeing as the prompt was "A Dish Best Served Cold"... this is called "Raisins." For those who don't _like_ to make a scene, but are still angry and want justice […]

This hits harder knowing that the lady who married me to my partner got fafiated(*) by the country from which I'm recovering... I hope she makes it back. (Maybe she'll come here?)
Heather Dale, "Fortune" […]
@jquestionmark.bsky.socialWe talked about Julia Ecklar a good bit, but what about the songs on Space Heroes & Other Fools? This is a powerful #filk album, and I think the right answer is to just jump straight into my favourite song on it: Darkness.

Star Trek – Kathy Mar – Demon in the Dark

@tigertoy.bsky.socialRIP Kathy Mar, an outstanding and unique performer and songwriter, and one of the weirdest people (and I mean that in the best possible way) I've ever gotten to know even a little bit.
@filkerdave.bsky.socialSad news for our #filk family: Kathy Mar has left us
@jquestionmark.bsky.socialBack when I was talking about Space Heroes & Other Fools, I got a bit distracted... Sorry. So lets talk a little more about Julia Ecklar. She didn't just write/perform great songs (you did go listen to The Dark is Rising, right?).
@jquestionmark.bsky.socialHere's an interesting #filk song today: www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3bS...
It's an interesting monster/demon/ghost story set on a starship where a malevolent entity possesses a crew member and kills others. It's got a nice creepy edge to it, and it's a fun listen.
@gmcgath.bsky.socialThe UU choir I'm in will sing my "Beacons in the Darkness" in December. I'm looking forward to seeing and hearing the director's choral arrangement. #filk

@jquestionmark.bsky.socialI haven't posted about #filk in a minute, and I need to figure out a better cadence, but for now, here's a song that I really love and highly recommend:

@beamjockey.bsky.socialAnother reason to love the great James Clerk Maxwell (1839-1907):
He wrote #filksongs. About science.
So not only do physicists revere him as an ancestor, filkers might, too.
Perhaps lovers of #filk will consider contributing to preserve Parton Kirk, the church in Scotland where he’s buried.
@gmcgath.bsky.socialA new filk, "Operation Legal Storm," inspired by Coyote vs. Acme.
