It was all about the light last night.

Ely Cathedral at dusk. The setting sun is making all the masonry glow a kind of pinky orange colour.

The photo is from the North West. The West Tower and Galilee Porch are in the centre of the frame, with the stump of the northwest transept to the left and The Gallery to the right.

I am quite happy with my previous post. This one, however is full of egrets.

#FenLife

A little egret in the reeds on a river bank. The same egret, but the water is more still so there is a reflection.

A few reflections on my favourite #Fen #heron.

#FenLife

A grey heron in the reeds by a river. The water is pretty still, so there is a good reflection. The same photo rotated 180° so the reflected bird is at the top. It is very similar, for obvious reasons.

Took my film camera and ended up not using it. Fun sunset, though. Just look at the colour of that sky!

Black and white photo of the riverside in Ely. Weeping willow on the left then some barges.

Screaming round Wisbech with the windows down, blasting out Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs like a Fen Dukes of Hazzard (without the racist car painting)

A bit more Fen-edge than #FenLife...

Black and white photo looking north along South Quay in King's Lynn at low tide. The quay is at the right hand edge of the photo, there is a fishing boat resting on the mud that is exposed by the low tide.

The river level is incredibly low, but the Great Ouse is a managed river that sends water southwards, so you can't really judge what is going on - a lot of the water that would be flowing out of here has been rerouted at Denver down the Cut-Off Channel to Essex and possibly even to London.
