We have so much life left in our garden—so many buds that haven’t even opened yet—thanks to careful planning to make sure we have fuel for #pollinators from #February2Frost. One late bloomer is architectural Aster ‘Jindai’.

Tomorrow might kick off October but our garden is still in full color despite soaking rain today. Tons of pink, white & yellow in main bed on left. Fiery Tithonia, Amaranth & Salvia coccinea on right. #February2Frost for fall #birds & #pollinators.
Wow. Mine are always late since I start from seed (the tubers always rotted on me over winter). We have Lake Michigan moderating our temps so we have been getting deeper & deeper into October before frosts in recent years. We try to keep something blooming for #pollinators #February2Frost.

‘Carine’ was supposed to be 4-5 ft. Fence is about 4’ so that’s when I knew something was up. So tall I had to add part sun things to bottom layer but nursery says this is one of their latest bloomers every year & it also has tons of buds—exciting because one of my goals is blooms #February2Frost. 🌱
#NativePlants Vernonia is a September superstar and I have planted more this summer so I have at least one variety in each bed in the backyard for even better #February2Frost blooms for #pollinators next year.

#NativePlants Iliamna remota is a rain garden powerhouse. It blooms for us from late June until October or even first frost so it really earns its spot in our small garden. 10/10, highly recommend.
