Speaking of, I found an awesome resource from #Wikipedia with their top vital pages: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Vital_articles

This is the set of articles for #Fauxcarta going forward. That's between 50k and 60k articles. Not sure how long that'll take to process. I plan on running […]

The data prep stage has been going for like two days now lol.

#Fauxcarta chugs along.

#Fauxcarta was about to fill up my 2 tb disk with #wikipedia's giant cache. Also it was duplicating items it really didn't need to. Trying to compact and deduplicate the cache materials into indexable #sqlite databases.

A terminal status message reads: “compacting source database: scanning pages; completed batches remain saved” followed by “compact database pages: 37677000 rows [1:04:33, 9081.04 rows/s]” with a progress cursor.

I feel like I'm getting closer to doing the "real" data pipeline run for #Fauxcarta that will have at least 60,000 articles/topics. Honestly surprised I made it this far.

:very_funny: Sometimes when you generate things automatically from knowledge graphs, you get things like this.

#fauxcarta #retro #retroComputing #ai #pepsi

A retro-styled graphical interface titled “fauxcarta” displays a timeline for the topic “Pepsi.” Search and filtering controls appear across the top, followed by “2 events” and a note that there are no mapped event locations. Two timeline entries, both dated 1,893 CE, are titled “Pepsi inception” with the text “Pepsi began,” and “Pepsi discovery” with the text “Pepsi was discovered.” Each entry includes a Pepsi topic link and a “Sources and attribution” dropdown.

#Fauxcarta work continues. Starting to look like an actual program. Don't be fooled, only 3 of the buttons on the screen work lol. But hey, it can load real articles now!

#encarta #retro #retroComputing #ai #llm

A retro-styled graphical encyclopedia titled “fauxcarta” displays an article headed “Meningitis.” The page describes meningitis as a medical emergency involving inflammation around the brain and spinal cord, followed by a “Signs and Symptoms” section discussing fever, headache, vomiting, neck stiffness, altered mental status, and a possible rash. The interface resembles an older desktop application, with a blue title bar, navigation buttons, a search field, and a green sidebar of icons.

Remember when every #icon used to look like this?

#retro #retroComputing #retroSoftware #fauxcarta #nostalgia

A small blue icon depicting a classical building with a triangular roof supported by four columns, resembling a courthouse, bank, museum, or government building.A glossy green circular icon with a white check mark in the center.A small icon of an open eye with a blue iris and dark pupil.

Finally reached article generation/rewrite stage. #Fauxcarta project chugs along. As does my poor #GPU.

#wikipedia #ai

Terminal window running a FauxCarta pipeline from `~/Git/fauxcarta/pipeline`. Numerous Wikimedia Commons XML multistream archive files have finished verification at 100%, followed by completed stages for importing Commons media descriptions, article identities, page assessments, and article normalization. The current “generate articles” stage is at 1%, showing 14 of 1,000 batches completed after about 49 minutes, processing roughly 223 articles per second with zero failures.
