Joel Pett cycles J.V. Dunce from “Trump’s a fraud” through a barrage of claims, then lands on a mirror and the same word aimed inward.

16-Sep-2026 — Black-and-white, ten-panel editorial cartoon by Joel Pett. In the first eight panels, a caricature of J.D. Vance delivers a succession of statements and claims: “Trump’s a fraud”; “An idiot, America’s Hitler”; “Childless cat ladies!”; “They’re eating our pets!”; “Democrats hate America!”; “We’re not at war with Iran!”; “It was Biden’s fault they shot at Trump!”; and “Radicals want to abolish our families!” His expressions grow increasingly emphatic and agitated. In the ninth panel, Vance looks at himself in a handheld mirror. In the final panel, he is offscreen and thinks, “I’m a fraud…” Pett’s punchline turns the opening accusation back on Vance, framing the strip as a satire of contradiction and self-recognition.
