This is what you get when nations that should be leading the world starts breaking international rule of law.

Another war happening that can be added to the list of things that probably wouldn’t have happened if Americans elected a President with integrity.

Eritrea Has Officially Invaded Ethiopia

Should have just said it was a special excursion, not an invasion. Rookie mistake.

They're currently massed in a Tigray controlled city and have begun sending columns south towards the Tigray capital of Mekelle which Ethiopia captured 36 hours ago. The claim is it's a pre-emptive strike in response to Abiy saying Ethiopia had the natural right to a red sea port for a couple years and announcing his intentions to annex the port of Assab (Eritrean city) when the time was right like a month ago.
Sudan's military government and Egypt just signed an alliance with Eritrea yesterday and are threatening to join in, but the RSF in Sudan (who Ethiopia has been helping for like a year) as well as Tobruk Libya and Chad are counter threatening to back up the RSF and Ethiopia(though the other Libyan government in Tripoli is allied to Egypt's faction)r/worldnews

Weren't Eritrea and Ethiopia working together to beat
Tigray rebels?

rpnye523 • 40m
Yeah but then Ethiopia wanted one of the Red Sea ports that Eritrea controls

OrangeJr36 • 32m
They also started working with Somaliland to get a port.
Between that and backing the RSF in Sudan, Ethiopia isn't very popular with their neighbors right now.

Tigray rebelled against the Ethiopian federal government, in what was supposed to be a large alliance of ethnic regional militias. None of Tigray's partners really showed up, so they got steamrolled by the Ethiopian army. Now Eritrea is entering the fight on the side of Tigray. And now almost everyone in the region is picking sides.
So the sides are:
- Ethiopia federal government, the RSF (the worse side in the Sudanese civil war that controls the western part of that country, Chad, and the Libyan National Army government that controls the eastern half of that country
- Tigray, Eritrea, the Sudanese Armed Forces (the internationally recognized and slightly less worse side in the Sudanese civil war and controls the eastern part of that country, Egypt, and the Libyan Government of National Accord which controls the western part of that country.
So basically two active and one cold civil war are possibly about to merge into a major regional conflict. And remember the first Tigray war was the deadliest conflict this decade by far.the r/worldnews

1. Sounds like WW1 with the alliances and powder keg (Could this be the 3rd African
WW after the two wars in Congo?).
2. incredible how out of the news the Tigray war was.

Eritrea crossed the line first and is invading
Ethiopia, but the border region is held by Tigray rebels who are allied to Eritreathe main ethnic group in Eritrea is closely related to the Tigray) and are letting them muster troops there. But Eritrea claims they're acting both to protect the Tigray from genocide and to stop Ethiopia from invading them in the future.
Egypt and Sudan are waiting in the wings to see what happens, though Sudan has already had border skirmishes because Ethiopia lets the RSF operate there
EDIT: Forgot to mention Chad and Libya are on Ethiopias side and have already been fighting in Sudan against the military junta for the RSF.
