#EscapefromthePlanetoftheApes (1971) cleverly flips the original premise, sending Cornelius and Zira into our world. #RoddyMcDowall and #KimHunter are terrific, blending humour, social commentary and tragedy. A smart sequel with a surprisingly dark ending. #ClassicMovies #NowWatching

Based on Kirk's apartment and McCoy's civies, the future is very 1970's-ish. #TCMParty #EscapeFromThePlanetOfTheApes

Armando made a nice speech about destiny and God's plan. #TCMParty #EscapeFromThePlanetOfTheApes

Through all that makeup, Kim Hunter and Roddy McDowall are wonderfully sympathetic, especially Hunter. #TCMParty #EscapeFromThePlanetOfTheApes

I have the same reaction as Cornelius whenever some boob calls a chimpanzee "monkey". #TCMParty #EscapeFromThePlanetOfTheApes

Otto seems an awful lot like one of those German scientists we picked up after the war. #TCMParty #EscapeFromThePlanetOfTheApes

Victor - I mean Dr Hasslein smiles an evil smile at the decision to abort Zira's pregnancy and sterilize her. #TCMParty #EscapeFromThePlanetOfTheApes

Heavens! Dr. Otto Hasslein turns out to be truly hideous.

Humans being humans, of course.

The "Apes" movies do raise an interesting question - whether two species of similar intelligence could coexist in the same world. What we know of human history seems to suggest the answer is "no". #TCMParty #EscapeFromThePlanetOfTheApes

Paul Dehn wrote the middle three original "Planet of the Apes" films including "Beneath," "Escape" and "Conquest."

Heavens, how I loved "Police Squad!" The first episode is still, to me, the funniest half hour in the history of television.
