This ISLE Online Forum will explore how insights from World Englishes can inform more inclusive and context-sensitive approaches to English language education. Three brief expert talks will address different dimensions of this topic. The talks will be followed by a discussion on future directions for research and teaching at the intersection of World Englishes and language education.
• How are varieties of English represented in curricula and teaching materials?
• How do attitudes toward different Englishes shape inclusion, equity, and linguistic discrimination in the classroom?
• To what extent has the World Englishes paradigm reshaped everyday classroom practice, rather than remaining a debate within academia?
• To what extent are distinctions such as “native/nonnative” and “second/foreign language” useful in teaching contexts?
