🔢 In the Western Pacific Region, 201 million women have experienced intimate partner and/or non-partner sexual violence in their lifetime.

That's 25.8% of women aged 15-49 in 2023. New WHO estimates point to the scale of violence and the urgency of prevention and response: bit.ly/4xwNYAX

Femicide is foreseeable. Many of the women killed by men in Europe had already reported it. Preventing femicide means police, courts and governments acting alongside women's organisations — and stopping the violence before it starts.

In today's #SOTEU, Ursula von der Leyen said online platforms will have to prove they are safe. But as she said herself, it is not only minors who are at risk. Safe-by-design must ask how a product could be used to harm women, and fix it before launch. With women in the room.
