Slavery should be illegal—no exceptions. As we celebrate Labor Day, we must also recognize the Slavery Loophole: five words in our Constitution that still allow for slavery “as a punishment for crime.” @repnikema.bsky.social and I are fighting to #EndTheException once and for all!

As we celebrate the workers who make the #FightingFifth and our country stronger, let’s recognize those forced into labor through incarceration.

My Abolition Amendment would #EndTheException in the 13th Amendment that allows slavery as punishment for a crime.

It’s past time to end all slavery.
