#EMF2026 National Writers Conference

The best was talk about different definitions of success eg poets publishing boutique volumes without a sales focus.

IMO the worst was “ppl should read Lolita and feel comfortable liking and identifying with the pedo” parading as “intellectualism”.

#EMF2026 nondisabled people tend to assume disabled people are here to educate and inspire them. WRONG. I am not your inspiration. And my book is first and foremost for MY people so we can see ourselves with agency, character development, and - spoiler - as a hero who risks herself to save her enemy

#EMF2026 question about author identity and ”obligations” to disclose. People have ORDERED me to write contemporary literature that is ONLY about a person with my disability living in their world. THAT IS TRAUMATIC.
*MY* book is *first* for MY people, and is intended to be FUN for all with good rep.

#EMF2026 panel: if I understood correctly, one guy basically said we should read Lolita and allow ourselves to identify with the pedo; IMO this kind of “intellectualism” is what helped promote and protect the Epstein class.

BEST question this #EMF2026 panel was “what do you do when someone misrepresents your culture/people?”
The response was to write better representation.
No one said writers can’t control what others write and publish.
I’ve reviewed bad representations. Give a book 3 stars for bad rep, see the pile on

#EMF2026 panel on writing responsibly.
Authors nearly always portray my kinds BADLY even tho eg Kate Forsyth did *some* research, so this is FRAUGHT.
I spoke on a #Continuum panel and said “NEVER write evil albinos”; was silenced by panelist then inundated by authors saying THEIRS is justified.
