Ecuador 3-0 Ghana

A strange one in that the score line doesn't flatter Ecuador. They were excellent. But it does undersell Ghana.

Goal of the tournament candidate from Rosa Flores to open the scoring, and a brace from Doménica Arboleda to close it out.

Ghana counter after Ecuador corner and what looked like a 1v1 with keeper was snuffed out by a retreating Arboleda. She's now down with a cramping leg.

Arboleda will certain get the player of the match today and it will be well earned. She's been phenomenal.

Oof, Ghana go very close, as Ruth Amponsah touches past Maite Zambrano in the box, but the defender gets enough of a body on her to throw off her shot, which is put wide.

The Black Princesses still very much fighting.

Screen just flashed that Domenica Arboleda has:

2 attempts on goal
1 attempt on target
2 goals

Not sure how that works, but a brace for Arboleda on Ecuador's #U20WWC debut is definitely something to write home about.

A third for Ecuador!

A misplaced backpass is pounced on by Arboleda, and cuts between defenders and fires into the net.

Akanguwie gets a hand on the ball, but it's not enough to keep it out.

Ecuador bring Rosa Estupiñán on for Aireen Mogro. Normally a right back, but it looks like they'll keep Estupiñán on the left.

Makes sense to get Mogro off considering her yellow. Estupiñán also more likely to sit back.

Good 1v1 defending from Zambrano out wide to handle a counter from Ghana. Been a little more settled from the Ecuador defense, but still a physical match both ways.

And an early freekick produces a yellow for Mogro and forces a save from Rodriguez.

Also, looks like Yiadom came out at half for Abesik.

Rosa Flores down after getting caught in the head on free kick.

Second half underway.

Ecuador bring in Scarlet Garaicoa for Kathleen Mendoza in central defense.

Ghana bring in Ruth Amponsah (fwd) and Salma Naazo (def) for Agnes Yeboah and Precious Asante

A dogfight of a first half comes to an end. Both Ghana and Ecuador have been aggressive in closing players down on the ball, and it's led to both sides' best chances, but also left a fair share of players on the ground.

Ghana with a dangerous freekick just outside the box to their right side.

Gyekyewaa goes for goal, but she puts it well wide.

End to end. Ghana wins the ball and takes a shot from the top of the box and forces a diving save from Rodriguez. At the other end, Moran gets a strong shot off that is juuuust barely tipped over the bar.

Ghana turnover and have a dangerous counter, but Fiorella Pico puts in a masterful tackle to kill the attack.

Ghana in this, and they can especially upset that back line. They've also rightly targeted Mogro as the potential weak spot. But Ecuador's defense is holding so far. #ECUGHA #U20WWC

Ghana keeper is down. Physio is signaling for a sub.

Looks like Salam's elbow may have caught a bit of Aboleda's cleat as the slid in to try and block the shot.

Precious Akanguwie will take over in goal. Finally restarted after the second goal.

Ecuador make it 2!!!

A turnover, and a clever interchange between Pico and Flores allows Flores to play Arboleda behind the defense. The attacker makes not mistake with the chance.

Latifa Musah down after the ball is kicked into her face. Looked pretty painful. She's up and to the sideline. Will re-enter,

Ecuador are doing well to swarm and pressure Ghana via the counter press but they've been a bit slow on the ball when they win possession. Ghana are finding the channels, and just hit the post after a wonder cross-field ball.

Ghana look threatening when they can get going in attack

#ECUGHA #U20WWC

Rosa Flores welcome to the global stage!!!!

Morán steals the ball and finds Flores, who catches keeper off her line and floats a 40 yard shot into the net!
