Walk in #eastlothian earlier today. Blissful moments without following the news. (Sadly the news have caught up with me again)

Inside the lovely Seton Collegiate Church in East Lothian. Its origins go back to 1242 and it was adapted in 1470 to become a collegiate church, in which a college of priests prayed for the souls of the benefactor and their family. More pics and info: www.undiscoveredscot...

Inside Seton Collegiate Church. The image shows a view along the interior of a church with a vaulted ceiling and stone arches. All the stone is honey or pinkish in colour. There is light coming in through windows along the left. Stonework is on display in the lower left of the frame. There’s a circular hole in the ceiling and an arched stained-glass window at the far end of the building.

One of two midget submarines, or XT-Craft, whose remains can still be seen at low tide in Aberlady Bay in East Lothian. They were moored here in 1946 and used as training targets by locally-based RAF aircraft. More pics and info: www.undiscoveredscot...

One of two midget submarines, or XT-Craft, whose remains can still be seen at low tide in Aberlady Bay in East Lothian. The image shows a large expanse of flat wet sand with a thin line of coast in the distance. In the foreground is a badly corroded and broken cylindrical object lying with its nose on the left nearer the camera. In front of it is water while beyond it is a girl standing to give a sense of scale. The sky is blue.

Some of the Dunbar harbour wildlife inhabitants. At high tide the great black backed gulls, a male eider and a cormorant were all close in with Dunbar castle and its #RNLI flag, blowing in the breeze, as a backdrop.

Our local community #woodland is still surprisingly green still. Caught this #greysquirrel with what appears to be an acorn capsule in its mouth. I’ve been seeing a lot of grey squirrels around various #EastLothian woodlands recently - usually scurrying away!

Seton Collegiate Church in East Lothian, one of Scotland's finest surviving medieval collegiate churches: churches set up with a college of priests whose full-time job it was to pray for the souls of the founder and their family. More pics and info: www.undiscoveredscot...

Seton Collegiate Church in East Lothian. The image shows a honey-coloured stone church. The transepts, tower and choir survive, the latter being on the right. The tower has a truncated stump of a spire on top of it. There are trees on both sides and grass in the foreground. The sky is blue.

I wasn’t expecting to see a #PaintedLady #Butterfly near Dunbar Harbour at the weekend. It was warming itself in the sun on the paving stones. This would be one of the new generation to emerge here this summer.

The superb beach at Seacliff, three miles east of North Berwick in East Lothian. This place is also home to a remarkable, tiny, harbour and the almost hidden ruins of a castle, plus amazing views of another. More pics and info: www.undiscoveredscot...

The beach at Seacliff. The image shows a view along a broad sandy beach that fills the bottom of the frame and curves round to the right, with the blue sea on the right of it. In the background a headland finishes with rocks and an outcrop. There are a few people on the beach and the land rises to the left. The sky is blue.

Sauntered along Postman's walk in Aberlady yesterday. Scores of butterflies on the ivy lined path including 30+ red admirals. A nearby newly created wildflower meadow was bursting with plant & insect life (well done that farmer) @ukbutterflies.bsky.social @savebutterflies.bsky.social #eastlothian

Most of the waders were well out in the bay during my walk, but this Curlew was feeding a little closer in, giving me the chance to catch it with a worm in its beak.

This male Eider came into #DunbarHarbour on the high tide. It was diving repeatedly and successfully caught a crab on one dive. With clear water I could follow it underwater, or watch the trail of bubbles as it dived and surfaced. Dives lasted around 15–20 seconds.

An area of farmland on the outskirts of #Dunbar #EastLothian may be considered for a hyerscale #datacentre. Many in the local community are opposed. If you can help by signing the #petition against the proposal that would be appreciated as it’s simply the wrong place ⬇️

Nature’s larder is full of rich autumnal colours just now from the rose hips to seabuckthorn, apples and Salicornia (more edible when younger tender shoots). All dotted around the #BelhavenBay shoreline.
