A textshot post reading: I love being male. I love my body, and would never want to change it. But I'm still uncomfortable with he/him pronouns because I associate them with outdated masculine stereotypes that I don't associate with myself.

When a stranger refers to me with those pronouns, it signals to me that they have already made assumptions and expectations towards me that they shouldn't, because they don't apply to me.

I think that feeling of being put into a box pushes a lot of people into resenting themselves, and wanting to change their bodies so that they can be perceived under a different set of stereotypes, and ultimately put in another box, when in reality its the bigots that should change.

The reason I go by they/them pronouns is because of my lifelong philosophy that I've had since I was a kid, which is that we are all just people. Gender isn't real, stereotypes are stupid, and everyone should be seen as equal humans. Regardless of sex, we are all the same creature.

I think once people realize and embrace that, they'll start feeling a lot more comfortable with themselves and their body. Your natural body is beautiful. You don't need to change it to be yourself, you just need to change who you let in your life💚
