Albrecht Dürer's View of Trento - a fortified river town sketched in passing, sandbank and rooftops and all. The overlooked kind of image: no grand commission, likely just a private study made along the way. #art #Durer #Renaissance #Trento #meisterdrucke

Sketch attributed to Albrecht Dürer, in a watercolor-and-ink style typical of his travel studies, showing the fortified riverside town of Trento with towers and beige-brown rooftops clustered along a river. A sandbank sits in the foreground water, with two small boats each carrying a single figure drifting on the river. Green and blue mountains rise in the background under a pale, cloudy sky.
