Pedro X. Molina editorial cartoon, 13-Oct-2026. Against a white background, Donald Trump, wearing a blue suit and long red tie, struggles beneath an enormous green money bag bearing a yellow dollar sign. The bag obscures his head as he carries it toward a wooden launching ramp positioned beside a large missile painted in the white, blue and red colours of the Russian flag. A skull and crossed bones appear on the missile’s blue section. To the left, Vladimir Putin, wearing a green suit labelled “PUTIN,” gestures toward the ramp while carrying a yellow jerrycan marked “DIESEL.” Putin calls out, “THANKS, DONALD! JUST DROP IT RIGHT THERE!” The money bag’s placement above the ramp suggests that Trump’s proposed Russian diesel purchases could help finance Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine. The cartoon portrays Putin directing the transaction while Trump supplies the money, transforming an energy deal into a potential contribution to Russia’s war machine. John Branch editorial cartoon, 13-Oct-2026. Donald Trump stands beside Russian President Vladimir Putin against a plain white background with faint purple shading near the bottom. Trump, drawn with exaggerated blond hair, a bulky grey suit and a long red tie, raises a sheet of paper labelled “OIL/DIESEL DEAL” triumphantly above his head. His mouth is wide open as he announces, “APPEASEMENT IN OUR TIME!” Beside him, a much smaller Putin stands stiffly in a black suit and purple striped tie, wearing a restrained, faintly satisfied expression. The phrase evokes British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain’s infamous 1938 declaration of “peace for our time” following the Munich Agreement with Nazi Germany. Branch satirizes Trump’s diesel arrangement with Russia as appeasement, suggesting that economic concessions to Putin, without corresponding commitments to end Russian aggression in Ukraine, reward the aggressor rather than secure peace. Branch’s signature, copyright date and King Features credit appear in the lower-right corner.
