Taking a virtual oil painting class with #Malte #Dueholm. Week two’s homework: paint the initial layer of hair with oils. I was shocked at how intuitive it is (at least for me) to use oils! Total fun!

Taking a virtual mini oil painting class. First assignment with the oils: simply draw and blend some squares and get a feel for the paint. In prep for painting the mini’s hair, I also played around with a gradient for the highlights.

Two pieces of plastic with six pairs of squares (two pairs of yellow ochre and Indian red, two pairs of Winsor yellow and Indian red, a pair of alizarin crimson and Winsor yellow, and a pair of alizarin crimson and yellow ochre) blended together. There is a square of violet with a gradient of a desaturated green on it. There is a rectangle of Indian red with Winsor yellow blended, and two rectangles of yellow ochre with Winsor yellow blended. There is also violet mixed with progressively greater concentrations of Winsor yellow and white, which ended up a washed out desaturated green.

Corrections made for the oil painting class by #Malte #Dueholm #Baadsgaard. (YT: watchpaintdry_minis, wpdminis.com). Focus is on basing matte acrylic paints so the oils have something to bite into, to have clean border separations, and to paint the eyes. #nerdlings #minipainting #oilpainting #bust

Taking another virtual class with Malte Dueholm Baadsgaard, this time an oil painting one. Base coated the bust with matte paints so the oils can bite onto the mini. Will clean up the lower eye liner later.

A miniature bust of a woman wearing what seems to be a purplish bustier and a black ribbon tied like a choker around her neck. Her hair is black and her eyes are green. These are merely base coats and layers of oil paints will follow. The skin was painted with Pro Acryl’s tan skin and the rest was painted using Golden SoFlats paints, black, white, blue violet, phthalo green, and permanent green.
