A surreal underwater library stretches vertically through a vast, ruined interior, its towering walls packed from floor to unseen heights with dark shelves of aging books. At the center, a woman in a pale, old-fashioned dress sinks downward with her back toward the viewer. Her arms reach upward and outward while her long dark hair streams above her head in the water. The lower portion of her dress appears to break apart into a swirling cloud of black fragments, torn pages, and debris. Large books drift weightlessly throughout the scene, some closed and swollen, others hanging open with their pages spread like fins. Loose sheets of paper tumble at varying depths, creating a sense of slow underwater motion. A large open book floats prominently near the bottom foreground, while blurred books passing close to the viewer strengthen the immense depth of the space. Far overhead, pale green-gold light pours through the submerged ruins, illuminating suspended particles and fading gradually into deep teal shadows below. The library feels ancient, flooded, and impossibly deep, with its architecture and countless volumes disappearing into the murky distance.
