African #gemsbok introduced to New Mexico could spread across the western US as #climatechange creates more connected habitats. New research warns that expansion could increase competition with native #wildlife and livestock, particularly during #droughts. doi.org/rscc

Nature´s thirst has at least been quenched a little bit here in the district of Konstanz yesterday, it´s even been raining a bit in the afternoon, I saw neighbours in the yard with umbrellas.
But we´d need 3 seasons with permanent rain to balance out the #Droughts of 2026.

Two people have died in Catalonia as the region is hit by torrential rain and flooding.
OMG, while Germany´d need 3 seasons of permanent rain to balance out the #Droughts of summer 2026.

Animal production (for #meat, #dairy, #eggs) is responsible for over 12% of global GHG emissions—which contribute to #climatechange whose impacts (heatwaves, #droughts, floods etc.) are borne by the public. These #emissions from animal production create… zerocarbon-analytics.org/nature/food-... +

What is really threatening #beech in the #Hyrcanian_forests?

Our paper reveals intra-annual rainfall seasonality is the #1 stressor. Seasonal #droughts during critical summer growth months exceed the species' hydraulic limits, risking severe embolism and #growth_declines.

Across the Northern Hemisphere, vegetal growth reacts more to #droughts than to excesses of precipitation.
During 1982–2018, the assymmetry sharpened significantly, "with climate change being the dominant driver". Grasslands drift fastest.

A greener #forest is not always healthier. Satellite observations in northern China found that forests later showing widespread #canopy decline had stronger growth but lower stability, suggesting favorable conditions and repeated #droughts may leave forests more vulnerable to future stress.🌳
