For the 50 states and Puerto Rico, the U.S. Drought Monitor shows 46.29% in moderate drought or worse, compared to 49.78% last week.
This week’s CMOR photo is from Howell County, Missouri.
“Parts of our county have received rain recently. Our farm in Pomona, MO is at less than 1/2”. Places in West Plains, MO are at 1” and this farm at China, MO is at less than 1/2” as well during September.”
The Southwest received 5-10 inches in areas this week after the remnants of hurricanes Odalys and Polo moved through the region, with New Mexico receiving much of this moisture. The rains helped erase an area of exceptional drought in the state this week.

For the 50 states and Puerto Rico, the U.S. Drought Monitor shows 49.78% in moderate drought or worse, compared to 49.65% last week.
Drought and dryness worsened across Texas this week. The drought and scorching temperatures are impacting agricultural yields, and causing farmers to postpone planting winter wheat and other crops in some areas.

Improvements occurred across much of the West, High Plains, Midwest and Northeast this week, plus Alaska and Puerto Rico. Parts of the South and Southeast saw mostly degradations.
