@asteriondeltoro.bsky.socialThis technically-optional boss is the first foe to be a real challenge- he has a ton of HP and hits hard. This is where being able to dodgeroll and wear down his stance with archery is useful.

@asteriondeltoro.bsky.socialPaused the questing to open-world around for awhile. Found some interesting puzzles and minigames and a dungeon or two, but it was mostly quests and chests. Oh yeah, and we can cook.

@asteriondeltoro.bsky.socialThe first chapter's concluding quest takes us into a dungeon where we reluctantly team up with a rival party against goblins and a mysterious mage. After the redhead tries to yoink the load-bearing quest item, we have to run for it and fight a dragon.
@asteriondeltoro.bsky.socialTook a break from questing to use my big bug to Batman (Bugman?) around the city rooftops, turning up awesome views, a few chests, and some other goodies.
@asteriondeltoro.bsky.social...and then it turns out the little girl was conning us the whole time! She put on the waterworks to convince us to deal with the goblins, then tricked us into dealing with the spider too. Little brat! 😠 But I got some armor out of it, so w/e.
@asteriondeltoro.bsky.socialAnyway, after the goblins, the shepherdess rewards us with a tip about the goblin's treasure- which turns out to be guarded by a giant spider. During the fight Lute winds up riding the spider's back while stabbing him. What effect this has I dunno.
@asteriondeltoro.bsky.socialCombat thus far is a lot of hectic button mashing. The core mechanic is to swapping between characters on cue to trigger combos. Between too-tight camera angles, blinding VFX, and the sheer speed, I can't get a good idea of what's going on.
@asteriondeltoro.bsky.socialMy first quest is to find some lost sheep, but being open-world, there's a lot of distractions on the way. Especially after the young shepherdess convinces me to go after the Goblins who poached the sheep in the first place.

@asteriondeltoro.bsky.socialThere's also familiars (mounts), which are the source of your traversal abilities. You get a big beetle at the start, with others available including cats, wolves, and squirrels. Regrettably, the cool red dragon that I wanted is a DLC. 😒
@asteriondeltoro.bsky.socialAs promised, though, there's no gacha. Instead you trade these "invitations" for new characters. First one's free, don't know how I'll get others. Upgrade systems look to be unnecessarily complicated, so I'll just stick with defaults for now.

@asteriondeltoro.bsky.socialLute is knocked out by the explosion (I have a feeling this is going to be a theme), so we ride to the starter city on red dragons(!) and get a montage of the city architecture. Lute is quickly press-ganged into the guild. Intro over, and we're off!
@asteriondeltoro.bsky.socialMeet a girl being menaced by vagina-faced goblins. (No, really, just look at them!) Lucky, our PC (Lute, by name) has healing powers. Then our soon-to-be-merked Sempai shows up and helps us beat the goblin boss before blowing the room up with us inside.
@asteriondeltoro.bsky.socialAfter an opening cutscene where we watch our sempai get merked by a dragon, we flash back two weeks and the game proper starts with us waking up on a beach after a shipwreck. Quest marker points down the road, but first, seashells and barrel vandalism!
