Recommended 1.3 hrs on record POSTED: TODAY I really enjoyed the demo, and I'm looking forward to the full release! I have many, many hours in Blue Prince, and Dark Rooms has the same general structure with the addition survival horror aspects (another genre I love). Aside from the setting and tone, Dark Rooms differentiates itself from Blue Prince in a few ways that were immediately noticeable. The first is the addition of active threats and, with that, weapons. That's a big dose of the survival horror I mentioned above. The second is that you don't start with a large deck of rooms. Instead, you build that deck over time by solving puzzles, finding an item, and completing the iteration. I'm curious to see if this curbs some of the RNG woes that you could run into in Blue Prince before finding how to change room rarity. Third is that the item economy seems a bit more forgiving. I felt like I had a ton of keys and nowhere to use them, which wasn't surprising given that it is a demo. The game runs incredibly well despite being built in UE5. I didn't run into any compilation or traversal stutter on my machine, and I played it on high everything including raytracing. Hopefully that holds up as the map gets bigger and more monsters are roaming the house, but it was a very promising first impression! There are polishing issues, missing mechanics onboarding, and bugs that I put into the Discussion forums here on Steam. I wasn't surprised by them because, again, it's a demo, and I suspect they will be addressed. Good luck to y'all with the continued development! Looking forward to playing more.
