Promotional graphic designed by the artist for the Tokyo exhibition "BETWEEN TWO SKIES" by The Holy Art Gallery. The design features a handmade layout that further distresses my original submitted artwork, "2026 - The Year The Sun Melted," to amplify its core concept of climate change. The artwork responds directly to my home of Westminster, London, and Western Europe experiencing its warmest summer on record, with August tracking as the world's joint hottest month in recorded history. The visual features a heavily textured backdrop split into a royal blue upper half and an intense crimson red lower half. At the top center sits a large, solid, vibrant yellow sun with a prominent single stream of thick yellow acrylic paint dripping straight down the middle of the composition. Silhouetted against the horizon line are London construction cranes, the skyline, Big Ben, and Westminster Bridge. Below the bridge, dense vertical streaks of dark red paint drip down into the lower red space. In the bottom right foreground, a single traffic light stands illuminated on the amber signal, serving as a symbolic warning to stop at Westminster—one of the epicentres of political decisions and systemic climate inaction, which happens to be right down the road from where I live and was melting to. Clean overlay text displays the exhibition schedule for October 6–9, 2026, at Design Festa Gallery in Shibuya, Tokyo.

We seek an innovative #evolutionary #biologist who will develop a world-leading, collections-based research program in Lepidoptera. The successful candidate will integrate modern approaches in evolutionary biology with genomics, imaging, computational biology, #biodiversity informatics, and/or other emerging computational approaches. We are particularly interested in scientists who envision natural-history collections not simply as repositories of specimens, but as powerful research platforms for addressing fundamental questions about evolution, biodiversity, and environmental change. The ideal candidate will have a record of high-impact scholarship, strong potential for extramural funding, and the vision to establish an internationally recognized independent research program. Research interests may include, but are not limited to, systematics, morphology, comparative genomics, biogeography, and/or macroevolution. We are especially interested in candidates who combine organismal biology with emerging computational approaches, including machine learning, computer vision, automated specimen identification, large-scale image analysis, and other data-intensive methods for understanding biodiversity. Excellent knowledge of #moth and #butterfly diversity is essential. Research and Collections The successful candidate will conduct original scientific research on Lepidoptera; steward and develop the Museum’s #Lepidoptera collection; and expand the collection through fieldwork, strategic collecting, and other accessions. Opportunities include developing methods to extract new information from historical specimens; applying machine learning and advanced analytical methods to specimen images and biodiversity data; integrating museum specimens with genomic and environmental datasets; and developing computational approaches that accelerate species discovery, identification, classification, and our understanding of evolutionary change.
