#CRTC finds that, no, it did not make a legal error when it told telecom company Iristel that it had to pay for services from Northwestel and that if you don't pay for services they can in fact disconnect you. crtc.gc.ca/eng/archive/...

So acted based on that.
But […]
Bell Canada to #CRTC: Keeping phones locked in store prior to sale being made isn't enough to prevent robberies. We absolutelyt need to keep them locked for 60 days after sale has been made to prevenet robberies that happen prior to sale being made.
Suspect Bell's Darcee McGees budget has been […]
Missed it when it came out.

Coopérative de câblodistribution Hill Valley has filed a complaint with the #CRTC over TVA refusing to negotiate a distribution contract for TVA Sports. Why is it refusing? Well, because Hill Valley was distributing TVA Sports to hotels without paying for it (TVA sued on copyright grounds and won)
Videotron acquired a company that had a contract with the city of Ottawa. It then demanded compensation from the city, arguing that Ottawa is now bound by Videotron's contract terms. The #CRTC said uhh no that's not how contracts work. crtc.gc.ca/eng/archive/...

The #CRTC has approved the change of ownership of Corus Entertainment from the Shaw family to a new company owned by its lenders. Due to Corus's dire financial situation, it has chosen not to impose tangible benefits. crtc.gc.ca/eng/archive/...
@chad Service on FTTH from indy ISPs is technically possible, but #CRTC set rates for the last mile only to be higher than what incumbents charge for full retail service so it is impossible for ISPs to compete.
@chad The treatment you got would have likely been identical for any independent ISPs purchasing wholesale last mile from Shaw/Rogers.
Recent decisions by #CRTC have given up on independent ISPs and expect "competition" between incumbents only. So in your neck of the woods, on top of Rogers […]
Rogers tells the #CRTC it intends to install HD Radio on its transmitter for CHEZ-FM (106.1 Ottawa) once it moves to a new CBC-owned antenna in Chelsea, QC. (New antenna is higher but power will be reduced to maintain same coverage area.)
#CRTC approves a new transmitter for Evangelical Baptist radio station CJVI-FM Brownsburg-Chatham (Radio Espoir 102.7) in Rivière-Rouge, a community northwest of Mont Tremblant. New transmitter is at 102.9 FM, 250W. crtc.gc.ca/eng/archive/...
