That’s explicitly covered in my #CrossChannelRail report that’s linked there

Martin Hoffmann was kind enough to send me some images from Köln Hbf that I have added to my post about whether #CrossChannelRail trains Köln - London could use Gleis 5 there

I am not sure these additions make this option look more viable though! 😄

Please can #CrossChannelRail news stop coming so fast?

This now about Genève from @cornichons.bsky.social www.tdg.ch/geneve-des-elu…

There is space at Lancy Pont Rouge, but it is damned hard to use. So that’s a maybe…

No more news please, I need to get a newsletter written! 😄

It is in the #CrossChannelRail report.

The short answer is: yes, of course UK joining Schengen would solve this, but it won’t, so all my analysis is based on the border stupidities remaining.

You could - at a stretch - imagine how #CrossChannelRail trains to London could depart Gleis 5 at Köln Hbf

In this article - with loads of photos and plans - I explain how you could do it: jonworth.eu/trains-to-lond…

Whether you would actually WANT to is rather harder to answer!

I’ve analysed all that in my #CrossChannelRail report. My point today is simply: today’s news tells us little of significance.

I don’t think there’s much to say about this churnalism about Virgin Trains this morning https://www.theguardian.com/business/2026/oct/09/virgin-cross-channel-train-eurostar

I’m not interested in liveries or interiors

The big unanswered point: when do they sign with Alstom? #CrossChannelRail

This is... bold

I did not have London passengers getting onto Platform 5 Köln Hbf on a new bridge on my #CrossChannelRail bingo card 😄

But something is happening re. Köln - London direct trains, so that is welcome I suppose?

So @london.gov.uk and @sebdance.bsky.social want Stratford International to have #CrossChannelRail trains to Paris, Khan wrote in City A.M. this morning

All very well, but HOW are they going to get it to work?

I've outlined how to possibly do it here: jonworth.eu/want-trains-...

@jonworth.euOct 8, 2026, 9:29 AM

P.S. My #CrossChannelRail report last year examined Stratford (and the Kent stations too) - might be useful for background: https://crosschannelrail.eu/crosschannelrail/crosschannelrail-report/

@jonworth.euOct 8, 2026, 9:27 AM

Stopping #CrossChannelRail trains at Stratford would be possible. But it’s no panacea. 🧵 to explain.

"Reverse piggybacking" in #CrossChannelRail.
