Did some quick experiments turning a GPX file and some photos of the Třemešná ve Slezsku - Osoblaha train ride into a mapped video animation, using the Trail Replay tool

Handy to make videos of my #CrossBorderRail investigations…
Så, nå vet vi hvor raskt det er mulig å kjøre #tog fra #Stockholm til #Oslo hvis det hadde vært dobbeltspor. Kan vi plz få dobbeltspor mellom Kongsvinger og Oslo? Gjerne sånn for 15 år siden?
also TIL double-tracking the #CrossBorderRail to Venlo is for real being studied, but still very much early days, not even planning phase 1 yet
And here is the Thalys early 2018 timetable: www.scribd.com/document/85893… Between then and 2023 there WERE changes: Bruxelles - Paris (the cash cow) was stepped up, everything else altered or reduced. #CrossBorderRail
Yep, better than nothing, but they’re just returning it to the same rather unimpressive standard it was before! #CrossBorderRail
This week my feeds were full of posts that San Sebastián - Irun trains would be extended to Hendaye 🇫🇷, from 17th Oct #CrossBorderRail
*So far* I can find no confirmation of this
We know it’s planned: www.diariovasco.com/gipuzkoa/trene…
But I don’t trust this: www.trainsdumidi.com/t18990-cercani…
I have made it to Weil am Rhein, which, it turns out, is a stop for this train.
Now I’m trying to work out if Weil am Rhein Grenze is a stop in Germany or Switzerland.
The fun of #CrossBorderRail
On the rails again... #Interrail #CrossBorderRail
Today, @wendy and I are going to Karlsruhe, for a relaxing side quest, and then ultimately to Weil am Rhein via Basel SBB
Today’s (Approximate, I’m still not sure on the timing of the second train) Itinerary […]
The #CrossBorderRail has now taken me to 449 border lines, meaning I have only 77 to go (and including only 1 proper active line)
So what should I do from here? 🤔
I have just been totalling up the statistics from this autumn's #CrossBorderRail journeys, and the total number of border railway lines I have visited now stands at 449, and there are 77 more to go - this map shows the remaining ones: As well as the record breaking trip this autumn, I also […]
Another #CrossBorderRail challenge, let's say you have a family event in Prague on a Saturday evening, and have to be at work in Nice on Monday morning. Is it possible by train? @erpu
It's certainly a privileged scenario to begin with, sadly not uncommon for […]
For the curious. The OV chipkaart pole at Leer (Ostfriesland) station is next to the railings for the stairs down from the platform. Easy to swipe as you cross the platform for a connecting train.
Today's #CrossBorderRail adventure is going well so far. I decided I wanted a change from my usual routes into Germany, as the new connection to Leer is running from today I'm experimenting. The connection at Groningen was tight. Just 5 minutes to navigate the gormless hoards from the NS train […]
Hamburg–Groningen in 4 Stunden. Okayish, dank kurzer Anschlüsse.
Mit einem durchgängigen Zug von Leer nach Groningen könnte man noch mal 10 Minuten rausholen. Da käme man dann langsam in Richtung konkurrenzfähig zum Auto.
Another #CrossBorderRail passed.. going from 🇸🇯 to 🇸🇪
Ah
Sachsen 🇩🇪 - that’s been unable to electrify Dresden - Görlitz - Zgorzelec 🇵🇱 for >20 years is starting an EU funded Interreg project about international #CrossBorderRail public transport

I suppose they know what to NOT do!
Sunset over Antwerp (on the train from London to Amsterdam yesterday)
